McAlester Army Ammunition Plant

Case Study

The customer had two new rooms that required video conferencing and presentations that could be used for secure and unsecure meetings. The end users of the room wanted easy to use touch panel interfaces to switch between networked codecs and presentations. Clear audio and crisp video were critical to the success of the project.

The required codecs and other AV equipment needed to meet strict government standards for security and manufacturer place of origin. The location of the project is in a small town in Oklahoma. The plant destroys expired ammunition at a set time daily.

Logic had numerous phone meetings with the customer and developed a system that met the needs of the AV support team as well as the end users. A pre-installation site visit was done by the Account Manager and the Project manager prior to deployment to assess any potential issues and find solutions. Planar commercial displays were chosen for video presentation. The smaller room used 86” displays, the large room required dual 98” displays. A Shure MXA 910 ceiling microphone array was chosen to capture audio and focus coverage on the table and the base commander’s location of the smaller meeting space. Two MXA 910’s were required to capture the larger meeting space participants. QSC signal processing, amplification and speakers were selected for the completion of the audio chain in both rooms.

Crestron Matrix Switchers were provided to handle the various inputs and outputs of the signals. Crestron Control systems were programmed with the appropriate secure and unsecure meeting pages and controls. Touch panel layouts were presented to the customer for feedback on functionality and ease of use. The end result was a control system everyone could understand and easily use. Crestron room status indicators were installed inside and outside the rooms to provide meeting status to participants and support staff outside the room.

End Result:

Two rooms that function similarly and provide superior audio and clear video presentations coupled with a simple user interface.
